Bashar Alsadik was born in Babylon, Iraq. He spent his childhood in the city of Hilla before moving to Baghdad, where he completed high school. In 1992, he finished his study at the surveying engineering department- Baghdad University, where he received his BSc. degree and ranked the first. Due to his avid interest in Geomatics and photogrammetry, he took up his Master of Science in the same department in 1995. Then he earned his Ph.D. degree from the University of Twente, ITC faculty in the Netherlands.

Since 2007, he holds the title of assistant professor. He lectured on the topics of photogrammetry and adjustment computations besides supervising M.Sc. projects. 

He worked for 5 years as an R&D engineer in CycloMedia Technology company in the Netherlands.  Currently, he is an assistant professor at Twente University - ITC faculty.
